With many people it’s the attention to detail which really matters when training.
Maria was a regular exerciser but didn’t feel as if she was making progress with her 30 minutes on the cross trainer and a selection of weight machines that she’d been prescribed at her previous gym. She also suspected she was hypermobile and needed to develop her strength.
As with all new starters, Maria had an initial 90 minute consultation to find out more about both her health history, aspirations and physical capacity (strength & mobility). Slowing this process down gives us the ability to find out what we need to be able to help the individual.
Maria had a great training habit but wasn’t doing what was needed to help her. Her strength training wasn’t functional. It was based on machines and while she was getting stronger, it wasn’t educating her to control or manage her hypermobility issues
As with all our clients, our aim with Maria was to restore the body’s full range of functional strength training exercises. Squats, Deadlifts, Pushing & Pulling – movements that carry-over to active daily life. Activities such as lifting the kids, gardening or playing sport.
The exercise selection and how it’s performed are important in getting the right training outcome.
Maria’s regular functional strength training in our Small Group Personal Training sessions allow her to feel stronger and more resilient outside the gym.
