
Breaking my ankle in two places in 2017 led me down a spiral path, becoming incredibly unfit and so lazy. My lack of fitness was really affecting my everyday life. I couldn’t even get up the stairs without having to pull myself up using the bannisters or get down on the floor to play with the grandchildren.
Eventually, the injuries healed but finding the will to start the journey back to fitness was a different story, despite my husband’s best efforts, I used every trick in the book not to go to the gym or even out for a walk.
What brought me to Ady Watts initially was a recommendation from a friend, I joined Ady Watts in January 2023, initially on the trial. That was such a good idea, as I was very unsure of how it would work for me. I soon found myself looking forward to going to the gym. The workouts felt comfortable and, more importantly, felt doable, my competitive spirit was soon egging me on to lift the bigger weight or push myself that bit harder at each visit.
What has kept me there is the warm, friendly and welcoming experience every time I walk through the door. It makes such a difference when the trainer knows your name and what you can and can’t do. Suggesting alternative ways of doing a particular exercise has been particularly useful for me. Turns out that lifting weights isn’t that scary after all.
My progress to date has been amazing and, in such a short amount of time, has made such a difference to my life in many ways, too numerous to mention but as an example, I can now run up the stairs without holding on, can hop over the stair gate in my son’s house, can now run around with the grandchildren.
