For decades I have suffered with ‘knee problems’, the slightest twist or knock would result in my knees swelling up, and I would shuffle around for weeks until the matter resolved itself. As an ageing skier and rider I put these episodes down to wear and tear.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

When my son William began having similar problems he was advised to go along to the Ady Watts gym and within a few months he’d lost weight and gained strength. During lockdown 2020 another twist and knock had me walking with two sticks for weeks. William suggested I had an assessment with Ady Watts. I muttered something about my age and wasn’t impressed when he said, ‘there are people there even older than you mum’ !!!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I was assessed and assured that something could be done. Within a few weeks of joining the gym I noticed a difference in my balance and confidence to stride out. Walking the dog on uneven country lanes had required careful placing of my feet, and I always took a stick to help with balance. I put the balance issue down to age (72) and conversations with contemporaries  confirmed that becoming a ‘wibbly wobbly old lady’ was the norm.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Under the care of The Ady Watts team I have regained my strength and balance and as a consequence I now have the confidence to stride out when walking for miles with my dog, running around with the grandchildren and ploughing up and down the swimming pool like a demon. From next month I intend to be back in the saddle again…….Thank you Ady Watts and team I wish I’d done this years ago.
