“I followed a fairly active life, playing football, rugby & squash (the best game) until medical problems curtailed all that in 2003… Although I did remain active walking, and completed the “Camino De Santiago” walk, with my wife in 2009.⠀
⠀
However, everything was cut short in February last year, when I started to suffer lower back & groin pain. On speaking to the oncologist, he suggested that the treatment I was on could cause muscle weakness and bone reduction & suggested some form of exercise might help. On discussion with my daughter, another gym goer at Ady Watts, who had experienced improved health by exercise, I joined too.⠀
⠀
Since then, with the guidance of coach Sophia, who has nursed me through a programme of exercises with great patience, and despite my useless ability to use the technology for home sessions, I am now in a pain free situation.⠀
⠀
I was 81 this Spring and feel in really good shape. Although I don’t think I will be taking up squash again!⠀
⠀
I would not hesitate to recommend the gym, especially to someone of my generation – I feel so much stronger & flexible!”⠀
